The Cobrhan are a shamanistic race from the Alpha Centauri system. Their planet is known as Sethkarin, by the inhabitants. Sethkarin has a day/night cycle roughly two and a half times that of Earth (60 hours). Due to its two suns, 50 of those hours are daylight. Its year is 500 Earth days (200 of its own days).
The Cobrhan are the dominant race on Sethkarin. From the waist down, the Cobrhan resemble giant snakes. From the waist up, they look very similar to muscular humans. Every inch of theirbodies are covered in vibrant scales. They have elongated, muzzle-like jaws filled with two rows of pointed teeth. They have a pair of retractable fangs that can inject a neurotoxin (no cure is yet known for this toxin). Their eyes are forward facing with a vertical pupil and dark iris. A small hole on either side of their head act as ears. Broad shoulders transition into muscular arms. Their large, four-fingered hands end in three-inch talons. Males and females are distinguishable only by the male’s muted colors, and each tribe has its own markings.
The Cobrhan hate technology almost as much as they hate outsiders. Their stone hut buildings are built by hand, without the use of tools or magic. Physical strength and dexterity are prized attributes. Villages are found in almost any type of environment, though very few are found in cold regions. Tribes often drift from one village to the next, leaving all non-personal belongings behind. Trade between tribes is rare, though not unheard of. Tribal elders are highly respected and act as mediators and leaders. Elders are also responsible for battle plans and tribal resources.
Approximately half of their population can perform magic. Magic is very sacred, and thus, strictly controlled. The use of magic is reserved for war and healing. It may not be used simply to make things easier or quicker. Use of magic for anything other than war or healing will result in the deviant being skinned alive and then exiled. Their mortal enemies are the ape-like Garolith. Centuries of wars have almost made both races extinct.
